Preserving Memories: A Journey in Resin Art

I started my journey in the world of art recently, fueled by the desire to create and preserve beautiful memories. I set up my shop, Instagram page, and online store, embarking on a mission to create awareness about my brand and gain social media followers. My chosen art forms include furniture, preservation, and wall decor. I aimed to use these platforms not just for self-promotion but to build a strong and ethical business around the concept of preservation. My venture into resin art was inspired by a childhood memory. Back in 7th grade, I created a painting that not only earned me appreciation but was displayed in my school's library for three years. That experience ignited the spark of artistic passion within me. However, life took a different path as my family emphasized the importance of securing a government job for a stable future, and art slowly faded into the background....Fast forward to my engagement, where a suggestion from my soon-to-be sister-in-law changed everything. She encouraged me to preserve our varmala, an Indian wedding garland, using resin art, a trendy technique. When I showed the idea to my fiancé, he was amazed by the beauty of the product and encouraged me to pursue this art form. With his support and a stroke of luck, I found an exceptional art academy, becoming a part of the "SD Tribe," which now feels like a second home. One of my proudest moments came in 12th grade when I won the first prize in a rangoli competition. The applause and recognition I received from my entire school left an indelible mark on my heart. My artistic journey has had its share of challenges, like the time I botched a photo preservation order with overheated resin. I was devastated, believing that I couldn't deliver what was expected of me. Such incidents have left me disheartened and at times, questioning my abilities. But, art has always been my solace. Painting calms my nerves and helps me focus my vision. It's a passion that transcends the struggles and disappointments. I've learned that life is best lived on my own terms, thanks to my fiancé, who has changed my family's traditional ideology with his entrepreneurial spirit. While my fiancé may not be skilled in drawing, he excels in resin art, offering unique ideas and color combinations. Together, we've embarked on a journey to create memorable preservation gifts that people can cherish for decades, representing our brand, "Sattva" - "Preserve Your Memories."As we dream of becoming a one-stop solution for preservation gifts, we aim to create employment opportunities and promote women's empowerment. In the next year, we hope to complete a minimum of 1,000 orders with an average ticket price of 5,000 rupees, achieving an annual turnover of approximately 50 lakhs. Our goal is to establish a dedicated office and studio, create standard procedures for manufacturing and marketing, and organically grow a family of 10,000 followers on social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube.Resin art supplies and finished products may be challenging to store, but as entrepreneurs, we believe in problem-solving and adapt by dedicating a room in our home for art-related work. We embrace the motto, "Keep moving forward," no matter the situation, and remember that "it shall too pass."In our pursuit of success, we're mindful of the saying, "Don't get overexcited; first learn, then take out the 'L' to earn." Our journey with resin art has been an ever-evolving adventure, supported by SD academia, our mentors, and our gurus. They've not only been great friends but have played a pivotal role in our entrepreneurial journey. From our first session with Sharad Sir on March 22, 2023, to countless moments that feel like forever, our resin art adventure continues. While some projects, like the terrazzo table, may not meet our expectations, others, like the cake stand, fill us with pride and joy. The river table class, in particular, was an exhilarating experience, reminding us that the journey of art is filled with excitement, nerves, and immense satisfaction. In this ever-evolving journey of preserving memories through resin art, we've learned that life without problems is boring. Our story is one of transformation, from a path set by tradition to a passionate pursuit of art, and from moments of self-doubt to a belief that our art can make a mark in the world.
