Blossoming Dreams: The Resin Art Odyssey

In 2016, as the world buzzed with the excitement of possibilities, I embarked on a journey to Chandigarh, aspiring to become an interior designer. Art had been my refuge since childhood; I'd crafted handmade greeting cards for teachers and friends, but I yearned for an art form where I could fully unleash my creative spirit.Life had different plans. Family issues compelled me to leave my degree incomplete, and within six months of returning home, I faced an unimaginable loss - my father's passing. At the tender age of 18, I became the breadwinner for my family, the eldest sibling shouldering responsibilities. The artist within me refused to wane. In the midst of the 2020 lockdown, I stumbled upon the captivating world of resin art while scrolling through Instagram. A foreign resin artist crafting exquisite keychains and bookmarks captured my attention. It sparked a dormant dream...; I dreamt of establishing my own small business. But familial obligations weighed heavy, and the dream remained distant. In November 2022, I took a significant step in a remote village in Haraya - I got married. My new life demanded financial stability, and I realized it was time to pursue my artistic passion. The journey began when I encountered SD Academia's advertisements - a spark that ignited my artistic aspirations. My goal was simple yet ambitious: to become a world-renowned resin artist and achieve financial independence, supporting both my birth and married families.Memories from my school days always filled me with pride. Winning first prize in rangoli during 4th grade, numerous awards in various art forms, and two-time Student of the Year - I had always been an all-rounder.The biggest hurdle came when I lost my father at 18. Returning from Chandigarh, I toiled relentlessly from 2016 to 2022 to support my family. It was a creative block that lasted years. Now, after marriage, I'm finally resurrecting my dreams. The transition wasn't easy. Hopelessness, depression, and a lack of energy plagued me. To combat these emotions, I sang, cooked, wrote in my diary, and leaned on my mother for support. The decision to pursue my dreams and leave my job was monumental. My in-laws initially wanted me to become a government teacher, and it took three months to convince them that art held a promising future. In the world of resin art, drawing and painting skills aren't prerequisites. Creativity and a keen understanding of colors and contrasts suffice. Without them, creating captivating resin products would be a challenge.Resin art may require space, but with proper organization, it can be managed at home. I store my creations in cupboards and under the bed, ensuring minimal intrusion on my living space.I've come to believe in my beauty, creativity, and power. With unwavering determination, I can work tirelessly to achieve my desired goals.A crucial piece of advice - always use latex-free gloves, the blue ones, as the white ones can harm your hands with prolonged use.My vision extends beyond personal success. I aim to craft unique designs, offer top-quality products, and produce captivating content on social media to inspire homemakers to earn from home. In the future, I aspire to provide employment opportunities to homemakers.Growing my social media following to over 50k and becoming a recognized figure in India's artistic landscape are my aspirations. I yearn to demonstrate that a woman from a small village can transform into a successful entrepreneur while working from home, even with limited resources.Among my creations, clocks stand out as high-selling products, always in high demand. Even though my business is in its infancy, just four months old, I'm in a phase of no profit and no loss. The support from my customers has been overwhelming. Presently, I sell exclusively on Instagram, without investing in marketing or promotions. As I learn new techniques, like the dirty and puddle pour technique, my journey in the world of resin art continues to evolve.Last month, I achieved a revenue of INR 20,000. With the festive season, I sold over 1000 rakhis, and I receive 10-12 orders for clocks each month. While I haven't conducted any workshops yet, I'm planning to in the upcoming months. On August 17th, I have a workshop scheduled at a government girls' school, where I hope to inspire young girls to start their own home-based businesses.SD Academia has played a pivotal role in enhancing my social media presence, helping me create impactful reels and photography. They are my first mentors, guiding me to unlock the potential of my creative mind.In just five months, I've learned a plethora of techniques, although alcohol inks remain my Achilles' heel. Despite the challenges, I persevere in my journey of resin art, crafting products step by step, and often creating beautiful pieces. The most gratifying moment came when Priya Mam appreciated my work in the resin art field, affirming that I was on the right path. Was this response better or worse?BetterWorseSame
