Mastkala: Crafting Dreams with Resin

In the realm of artistry, there exists a world that mesmerizes with its glossy finishes, intricate designs, and the sheer passion of its creator. It's a world that invites you to explore the enchanting journey of Mastkala, a budding artist who embarked on her resin art adventure not too long ago. Join us as we dive into her story, a tale of creativity, aspirations, and the pursuit of artistic identity.Mastkala, as she is fondly known, is an artist who started her journey into the world of resin art recently. Her path was not predestined; it was an open canvas, waiting for her to paint her own story. When asked about her specialties, her response was as diverse as the colors in her palette - jewelry, furniture, home decor, wall decor, and mixed media. It's a testament to her versatility and willingness to explore the endless possibilities resin art offers. For Mastkala, her artistic odyssey began with a spark ignited during her diploma days at Aligarh Muslim University.... Art had always been a calling, a whisper that grew louder with time. The decisive moment came when her daughter encouraged her to delve into resin art. It was then that she crossed paths with Sharad Sir from SD Academia, a meeting that would infuse her with enthusiasm and confidence. Thus, "Mastkala" was born - a brand nurtured with love, a repository of years' worth of artistic aspirations. Resin art, for her, is more than just a craft; it's a means of finding peace, releasing tension, and nurturing calmness within oneself. It's a medium through which she aspires to carve an identity for herself in the world of art.Every artist has their moments of glory, those milestones that make their journey all the more rewarding. For Mastkala, the first significant achievement was a beautifully crafted 'blouse' during Durga Pooja. Wearing it in public was a moment of sheer accomplishment, with 98 percent of the room appreciating her creation. Another high point was when she received her very first order - custom friendship bands and keychains, a testament to the growing recognition of her artistry. But as in any creative pursuit, challenges are inevitable. Mastkala experienced her fair share, especially during her first attempt at a 15-inch wooden-resin tray. Despite having all the materials ready, she found herself pouring resin for too long, leading to a creative block. The resin stiffened, and the tray's surface resembled lava. It was a moment of exhaustion and anxiety, prompting her to take a break and recharge her creative spirit.Creative blocks can be anxiety-inducing, leaving one feeling anxious and sleepless. Mastkala, however, has a unique approach to overcoming them. She begins by seeking solutions, meticulously addressing each challenge before moving on to new ideas. It's a testament to her resilience and unwavering commitment to her craft. The path to becoming a resin artist has not been without its obstacles. Family constraints and the unavailability of raw materials due to her residence in a small town posed challenges. In her journey, she dispels the myth that resin art necessitates traditional drawing skills. It's a form of creativity that transcends conventional boundaries. One common challenge in resin art is the need for ample space to store materials and finished products. Resin art is a resource-intensive craft that can be hectic to manage. However, Mastkala has found a solution by dedicating a specific space, including an almirah, for her materials and creations. As Mastkala navigates her artistic journey, she holds onto the wisdom of Chris Grosser, who said, "Opportunities don't happen; you create them." She understands that success in resin art requires pre-planning, organization, and patience. It's a journey of learning through mistakes, with moments of chaos and disheartenment, but also of immense satisfaction.Looking ahead, Mastkala plans to create unique masterpieces, focusing on detailed finishing to set herself apart as a resin artist. Within a year, she envisions her brand gaining recognition in the resin market, with the establishment of a studio and exhibitions across India. In her artistic repertoire, Mastkala's creations encompass a range of items, from Rakhis and Lumba Sets to kitchenware. Despite being a beginner, she has already earned Rs. 5130 in cash and the affection of her loved ones. Her handmade resin roses stand as a testament to her dedication and creativity, fetching her Rs. 5130.As a beginner, Mastkala has just embarked on her resin art journey. Yet, she anticipates exciting prospects in the coming festive months. Offline exhibitions may not have been part of her journey yet, but the techniques, designs, and grievance redressal at SD Academia have played a crucial role in helping her implement her artistic ideas. Her association with SD Academia began in April 2023.Reflecting on her journey, Mastkala shares that her most memorable class was with Priya mam, crafting her first piece of resin clutch. The effects achieved through alcohol ink were simply mesmerizing. It's moments like these that fuel her passion and keep her inspired.
