Resin Dreams Unveiled: A Journey from Banking to Artistry

Once upon a time, in the bustling city of Kolkata, a young woman's life took an unexpected turn. She had been working tirelessly in an investment bank for eight years, right after graduating in 2014. But destiny had other plans for her. After getting married and relocating to Kolkata, the hunt for a suitable job proved futile. Little did she know that this seemingly uncertain phase of her life would lead her down a path of creativity and fulfillment. One day, while scrolling through Instagram, she stumbled upon a captivating resin baby frame. She had a desire to gift it to her sister-in-law, but the price tag left her astounded. A thought struck her - "I can create this myself!" The very next day, she embarked on a quest to learn the art of resin crafting, diving deep into YouTube tutorials. Then, almost miraculously, an advertisement from SD Academia flashed on her Instagram page. It felt like destiny had intervened. With newfound hope, she reached out to their team and discussed her plans with her family.... And so, her journey into the world of resin art began. She joined SD Academia and soon found herself nurturing her own resin business. From childhood, she had always possessed a natural flair for art and craft. Her job at the bank may have kept her occupied, but deep within, the dream of pursuing her artistic passion lingered. With unwavering determination, she decided to follow her heart and embrace her creative calling. The pivotal moment arrived in July 2023 when she participated in her first-ever exhibition in Kolkata. It was a memorable event, not just because of her presence but because her brand and products were featured in the esteemed T2 Telegram newspaper. It was a validation of her artistic journey, a moment of pride that fueled her passion further. However, like any artist, she had her moments of creative block, especially when she was single-handedly managing orders, and the workload seemed overwhelming. These were the times when she longed for her business to grow to a point where she could delegate tasks and focus solely on her creative endeavors. Her approach to overcoming creative blocks was a reflection of her resilience. She would pause, take a moment to relax, and clear her mind. Making a to-do list was a habit she had cultivated since her banking days, and it served as her compass during challenging times. Prioritizing tasks and regaining her composure were her go-to strategies. The journey from the banking sector to the world of resin art wasn't without its share of challenges. Initial investments, setting up a workspace, and the delicate balance between family and work were hurdles she faced head-on. Yet, she embraced these challenges with open arms, knowing that they were stepping stones to growth.Surprisingly, she had always been skilled in drawing, honing her talent since childhood. However, she firmly believed that resin art didn't demand prior drawing experience. Instead, it required focus, creativity, patience, and, of course, a significant investment. One prevalent challenge in the world of resin art was the issue of space and storage. Unlike many who attempt to run their businesses from home, she realized early on that a dedicated studio was essential. Her workspace housed a plethora of raw materials and finished products, making efficient storage a necessity. Her vision included expanding her studio to accommodate her growing inventory. In her artistic journey, she lived by a motto - "Give your best today, and surely you will get better results tomorrow." This philosophy resonated deeply with her, reflecting her relentless pursuit of excellence. Having traveled across India for her studies and job, she had imbibed the value of wholehearted dedication. For newcomers venturing into the world of resin art, her advice was simple - "Just go with it, keep experimenting, and you will love it." Her own journey was a testament to the rewards that awaited those who embraced their creative passions. As she looked to the future, her focus lay on corporate sectors for bulk orders, collaboration with interior designers for home decor, and partnerships with local vendors. She envisioned offline workshops and even considering a segment for selling raw materials. One of her standout creations was the Varmala preservation frame in pinewood, a unique and sentimental piece that captured the essence of preservation and artistry. It accounted for 40% of her expenses, underlining her dedication to quality.Currently, she was working on crafting beautiful rakhis, a reflection of her commitment to tradition and artistry, accounting for 10% of her expenses.Despite being a solo artist, she managed 15-20 orders per month, showcasing her dedication and the growing demand for her creations. And, of course, she had recently hosted her very first exhibition in Kolkata in July, showcasing her remarkable resin artistry to the world. The journey had not been solitary. SD Academia had played a pivotal role in her artistic voyage. She had started her resin journey with their guidance in November 2022, and since then, she continued to learn and grow with their support.
