Resin Art: A Lifelong Journey of Colors and Creativity

Once upon a time, in a quaint little town, lived an artist whose journey into the colorful world of art began at the tender age of three. She was no ordinary child; she was given a set of watercolors and a brush while her peers were still struggling with crayons. Her artistic journey had begun. As she grew, her love for biology bloomed alongside her passion for painting. She delved into the study of natural resins found in plants, fascinated by the intricate world of nature. And then, like a scene from a movie, the inspiration struck - it was "Jurassic Park" that triggered the artist within her. The fossilized mosquito trapped in amber, a natural resin from coniferous trees, ignited a spark. But her path to becoming a resin artist was far from linear. In her eighth-grade classroom, she proudly received a national award in an art competition, a moment that would forever fuel her creative spirit....Years rolled on, and life took her on a different journey. Marriage, motherhood, and a full-time job in a male-dominated field consumed her days, leaving little room for art. A creative block, lasting a staggering 25 years, seemed insurmountable. The emptiness she felt during those years was palpable. Time was slipping away, and her ideas remained unfulfilled.A romantic at heart, she sought solace in the world of romance novels. Her Kindle was always filled with tales of love, serving as an escape when the weight of reality became too much to bear. But she wasn't allowed to pursue art as a profession, and so, she channeled her energy into mastering zoology. Looking back, she wished she had rebelled and followed her heart's desire. Then came resin art, a medium that defied the need for traditional drawing and painting skills. Resin's abstract possibilities offered her a niche where creativity could flourish unburdened by the constraints of realism.Yet, resin art came with its challenges. It required space, and the process was often messy and sticky. As her son left for higher studies, she claimed his room for her artistic endeavors, a room soon to be joined by the dining area. One quote had always resonated with her: "We have art so that we shall not die of reality" by Friedrich Nietzsche. Art was her refuge, keeping her sane when life's harsh realities threatened to pull her under. With resin art, she found herself on an exhilarating journey. It was a form of art that, once embraced, became a lifelong commitment. The artist warned others to tread carefully, for resin art had a captivating hold. Her dreams intertwined science and sculpting with resin. She aimed to master various resin techniques and take on regular orders, combining her scientific knowledge with her artistic prowess. In her budding resin art venture, the alphabetical letter keychains became her most saleable product. Despite her recent entry into the world of resin, she participated in an exhibition, making her first sale of around Rs. 10,000.Her current project involved creating small sculptures, crafted from air-dry or polymer clay, to be encapsulated in resin, adding a unique touch to her artwork. As the seasons changed, so did her sales. In July, she hadn't made any sales, but she persevered, knowing that her journey had just begun. Two deliveries marked the start of a new month, a testament to her dedication and growing clientele. And on a memorable day in August 2023, she took part in an exhibition at DSOI, Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi, organized by New Age Mompreneurs. The exposure further fueled her artistic fire. Her artistic journey had been significantly shaped by her association with SD Academia since May 2023. The instructors at SD Academia provided valuable guidance, teaching not only the art itself but also paying attention to the smallest details, opening up new horizons in her artistic journey.Yet, like many artists, she faced moments of doubt, grappling with imposter syndrome. But her journey had its triumphs too. When a sphere lamp she was working on shattered after the first day, she felt defeated. But her resilience pushed her to try again, resulting in a beautiful creation that would later find a buyer. And then there was "Black Diana," a masterpiece that not only made her proud but stole the show at her recent exhibition. As her story continues to unfold, this artist remains a testament to the power of perseverance, passion, and the enduring beauty of art. Her journey, like her resin creations, is a blend of colors, emotions, and endless creativity.
